Still Life: |
This piece is based on an image given to our class, the goal was to re-create the image. During the creation of this piece I mastered finding where each figure was in my drawing. Something that I think that I struggled with was value. I think that with more practice I can really make my value darker and more prominent. In this drawing I originally wanted the piece to stay black and white, because I wanted viewers to view the value clearly.
Later in the project, we were required to add color, this was actually important because I think it gave my drawing a new meaning. In this piece I chose the orb shape to really stick out because I wanted a focal point, the roundness of the sphere was almost a blank canvas for my hint of color. I decided to color the orb with cooler colors due to the fact that I want my audience to feel relaxed, and I tend to feel more relaxed with cooler colors. Next time I would shade darker to really make the color stand out. |
Practice Landscape:
My first landscape image inspired by my trip to Hawaii last year, I played around with pastels and the colored pencils to see which one I liked better. I found that both work well, and together they are better. My final landscape image is on my "Portfolio and Artist Statements" page.
